I'm not sure if the cabin fever of two feet of snow has made me crazy, or if I'm just in a mood for hilarity, but I would like to give you another funny for the week.
DovBear is a widely read and an even more widely known blog by an anonymous fellow who I someday hope to meet (I did invite him to my wedding, to no avail). I read his blog, and dozens of others using Google Reader, which means that weird ads sometimes show up within the body of the text if the author of the blog has deemed that something they want. I'm very anti-ad, but that's because I don't want to muddy up my good-looking blog, and, it appears, now I have another reason: unwanted ads. you have only 34 unread posts in your reader jblog list?
amazing. mine always has hundreds. takes me tons of time to catch up.. I usually read some and then give up and mark everything as read...
Believe me ... I go in there at least once, sometimes twice, a day to keep up. Between Hadassah and Life in Israel and Elianah-Sharon's ... they fill up the feed fast.
You currently have "Solar Energy Charity" ads and "Microfinance Power" ads in my GoogleReader:)
I write a blog about religion also, specifically about Hinduism and I tried the ads for a short while. I got the exact same Scientology ad on mine!
It showed up after a post I wrote about the dangers of thinking that we have all the answers, and the ad basically says "We have all the answers"!
I took the ads down after that, but it was hilarious.
Ha. I removed Google ads after I got a few sketchy ones for "abortion clinics" that don't condone abortion - connected to my post about the death of Dr. George Tiller!
If you read Dov Bear's blog posts through Google Reader while you're in Germany, you used to get Christian sites. I'm not sure what you get now, cause I have started to ignore these unwanted ads...
I gotta figure out what ads are showing up with mine and how to get rid of the ones I am not kosher with ... tips?
